80 Years of Combustion
1946
Where It All Began
BDC’s story starts as Brandwine Equipment Co., a manufacturer’s rep for industrial combustion pioneers like Eclipse and Rockwell. Born in the heart of an industrial boom across Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois, the company quickly earned a reputation for technical know-how and trusted service—thanks in large part to founder “Brandy” Brandwine’s leadership. As manufacturing needs evolved, so did the company’s capabilities, adding temperature control systems and expanding into full combustion solutions.
1976
A New Name, A Clear Mission
A group of longtime employees purchased the company and officially formed Burner Design and Control, Inc. With a renewed focus on growth, the team expanded its distribution capabilities and doubled down on its mission: to deliver smarter, cleaner, more cost-effective combustion systems for industry.
1992
From Parts to Full Solutions
In response to growing customer demand, BDC launched its Engineered Systems Group. This team began designing and delivering turnkey combustion solutions—from valve trains to fully automated process systems—setting the foundation for BDC’s future as a trusted integration partner.
1997
Service, Formalized
BDC officially established its Field Service Group, turning what had long been an informal customer support function into a full-fledged, dedicated service division—providing faster response and deeper on-site technical support across the region.
2006
Expanding Our Footprint
BDC moved into a modern 25,000 sq. ft. facility in St. Louis County, expanding its warehousing, shop services, and inventory capabilities. That same year, BDC acquired Heat Process and Control in Kansas City, establishing a fully staffed service hub to support industrial clients across Western Missouri and Kansas.
2014
Capabilities That Go Beyond Combustion
BDC acquired RL Weisenheimer & Associates, expanding its expertise in flow, pressure, level, and sensing technologies. The addition strengthened BDC’s control systems offerings and deepened the team’s bench of technical experts.
2015
Built for Growth. Grounded in Service.
By 2015, BDC had grown into a multi-office team of engineers, technicians, and service professionals, with field support and inventory across multiple regions. And while the company scaled, it stayed true to its culture: honest, down-to-earth, and focused on doing right by every customer.
2016
A New Chapter in Leadership
Charlie Roth retired from BDC and sold the company to David Baumstark. David is a St. Louis native with an extensive background in industrial distribution.
2022
Growth Across the West
BDC secured a Honeywell distribution contract for Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana—expanding its presence and support capabilities into key Western markets.
2022
New Team, New Territory
BDC acquired ACME, bringing on a seasoned service office with five technicians and two administrative staff. The move deepened BDC’s service bench and expanded its regional reach.
2024
Into the Heartland
BDC’s Honeywell territory expanded again—this time into Iowa and Nebraska—bringing the company’s trusted service model to even more industrial teams across the Midwest.
2026
